The University of Cambridge, Sidney Sussex College
Cloister Court at Sidney Sussex College is a 19th-century court known for its red brickwork and Victorian history, offering attractive rooms with views of the college gardens. Its name reflects a tradition of monastic cloisters.
We were tasked to redesign the rooms which would make them appealing to both term time students and for out of term conferencing guests.
This included designing custom joinery (incorporating electrics and a fridge cupboard) and a bespoke lampshade, as well as specifying paint colours and carpet for a sample room with a view to rolling out this out across the court. We also managed the furniture side of the project and installed the rooms along with curtains, blinds and a pinboard within a tight timescale.
Our designs were very well received and the sample room that was also completed in the modern Blundell Court has already been quoted for a rollout across the top floor.
