lowRISC
EWD were brought on to design and project manage a workplace for this not-for-profit engineering company providing open source silicon designs and tools.
Originating from the University of Cambridge, lowRISC wanted to expand their current workplace and acquired new premises; a three-storey Victorian villa retaining many of its original features.
EWD provided various test fit options to made sure the office would allow for future expansion. Break-out spaces and a vibrant conference room were key for the client to reflect their brand and to support their functional working needs.
We implemented a split open plan office with sit-to-stand desking on the upper floors – a great way to aid wellbeing at work - as well as a new colourful kitchen with high-spec appliances.
Our human-centric design approach incorporated biophilic design principles - adding plants, natural colours and emphasising access to natural light.
EWD were engaged in a Design and Build role, managing the design, construction and supply and install of all FF&E.
More recently we undertook a design appraisal and implemented measures to ensure the office was COVID-safe, supporting staff confidence in returning to work.
